Halcyon Capital marketing site — minimal home office reference

The brief.

Halcyon is a Series-Pre/Seed fund operating in a market saturated with louder, brasher peers. The old site read like everyone else's — hero video, founder portraits, partner logos in a strip. It wasn't bringing in the right kind of inbound, and the partners spent disproportionate time on first-call qualification.

The reframe was straightforward: stop competing on volume of activity, start competing on quality of judgement. The site needed to do two specific jobs — give founders enough context to self-qualify before requesting a meeting, and signal seriousness to LPs without becoming gated or unfriendly.

The approach.

We rebuilt the IA around a question, not a hierarchy. Each page answers the single thing the visitor came to know: 'How do you think about valuations?' 'What's your follow-on policy?' 'Who decided to invest in Company X — and why?' Long-form, plain language, written by the partners and edited by us.

The visual system softened from corporate to editorial. Inter and Instrument Serif together, a restrained palette, and a no-stock-photo rule that forced us to commission a small library of real portfolio photography. The result reads slower, more deliberately — which is the point.

The platform is a headless CMS piping into a static site generator, so the partners can publish a market-take piece or a portfolio update without engineering involvement. Performance is sub-1-second LCP on mobile, which matters because most LPs read these on phones over coffee.

The outcome.

Six months after launch, inbound founder pitches are down 22% in volume but up significantly in fit — the partners report a meaningful increase in pitches that get past the second meeting, which is the only number that matters at this stage.

On the LP side, the fund closed its third raise two months ahead of schedule with three new institutional commitments citing the site specifically in their reference conversations.
